Reservation terms

What the $20 is

The $20 is a refundable reservation deposit, not a purchase. It holds a place in our first production batch and locks in the pre-sale price. Nothing ships when you pay it.

Price

• Pre-sale price: $200 per unit (planned launch price $260).
• You pay $20 now. The remaining $180 is due only when your unit is ready to ship.
• We will email you before charging anything further. The balance is never charged automatically.
• Shipping costs and any import duties for your country are not included in the $200 and will be shown to you before you pay the balance.

When it ships

Our target for the first units is spring 2027. This is an estimate for a product that is still in development, not a guaranteed date. If the target moves, we will email you the new estimate, and you may cancel for a full refund at that point.

Refunds

• If we do not reach production, every deposit is refunded in full to the original payment method — automatically, without you having to ask.
• If you change your mind before the balance is due, reply to any of our emails and we will refund the deposit in full.
• Refunds are for the full $20; we absorb the payment-processing fee.

What Guinea Guard is — and isn't

Guinea Guard is a monitoring aid. It flags changes in your animal's movement, stillness, eating and breathing sounds and shows you the evidence. It is not a veterinary or medical device and does not diagnose anything. Decisions about your animal's health belong to you and your vet. Do not delay seeking veterinary care because a device did or didn't flag something.

Who you are dealing with

Guinea Guard is made by FreakStudio, a small hardware team based in Taiyuan, China. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card number.

Privacy

What we collect when you reserve

• Your email address and name, from Stripe checkout.
• Your payment, handled entirely by Stripe under Stripe's privacy policy.
• Anything you tell us when you reply — for example your cage type or how many animals you have.

What we use it for

• Updates about your reservation: progress, the shipping estimate, and the balance request.
• Occasional questions that help us build the right thing (mount types, cage sizes). You can ignore them.

What we don't do

• We don't sell, rent or share your details with anyone else.
• We don't send marketing for other products.

Stopping

Reply to any email with "unsubscribe" and we stop writing, or ask us to delete your details and we will — unless you have an open reservation we still need to fulfil or refund.

The device itself

Video analysis runs on the device. We will publish the full device privacy policy — what leaves your home, what is stored and for how long — before any unit ships, and before you pay the balance.
